5 Things Brides Should Know BEFORE Their Wedding Day

We love all our TréCreative couples! Every weekend we're reminded of the many reasons we love our job so much! Each couple's day is so different and intricately beautiful because it is their wedding day. Each couple brings a different flavor or style to the day and we just love that! With all these amazing couples, we have seen a lot of different weddings! For our couples though, this is usually their first time ever planning or being the "center of attention" for a whole day! With that can come lots of fun with planning, but let's be honest, it can be a little stressful at times! Here are 5 tips that can help your wedding day and wedding planning run ever so smooth. Some of this advice we've seen first hand work well, and other suggestions are from our past brides who were were given great advice that they shared with us!

1. This one comes from our past bride Rachel and when she shared it I knew it would be something we would have to pass along! Her wedding coordinator told everyone at the rehearsal dinner that from then on, NO more asking the bride questions. All wedding related questions would be asked to the coordinator or to a delegated bridesmaid (this could be anyone). Now I realize some brides like to have more say in their wedding day, but find someone you really trust whether its your coordinator or your maid of honor to answer any wedding related question that may come up. Otherwise on the day of the wedding, you'll be surprised with the amount of questions you're bombarded with! Delegating this to someone else allows you to soak in every moment because trust us, the day goes by quick!

2. When choosing vendors, (and really any decisions related to the wedding) pick one and and just run with it! We know first hand that there a

re so many amazing wedding vendors out there! We suggest choosing ones that you feel good about working with, that you get along with and that you can trust. Once you've made a decision, don't second guess yourself. Make up your mind and run with it! That way you can move on to the next important task or to-do instead of delaying on one for so long. We learned this from our own wedding and when it comes to making decisions around our new house. There's so many options out there, just choose and run with it!

3. Make sure your mom is ready before you slip into your dress!!! Often times, moms want to be fully ready with makeup and hair done when their daughter slips into her dress. This is totally fine, we love capturing those moments when your mom is putting on your shoes or helping put on the veil! What we have seen happen at more wedding than most is that the MOB (Mother of the Bride) is running around helping with other tasks (love you for this moms!) but then is not available or ready by the time we need her to be for these photos. This can take away from portrait time and set the whole day behind. Not only do we see this common occurrence at so many weddings, we know it first hand from a personal experience on our own wedding day as well! Some moms don't care about being ready, but others do. Take time to talk this over with your mom before the wedding to see if she would want to be a part of "putting on the dress" photos, if she'd like to be ready, and what extent she would like to be "ready" (hair, makeup, dress on, etc). This will help the bride and groom portraits run on time and provide for a stress free day which is one of our top priorities!

4. Along with the getting ready portion of the day, it doesn't hurt to schedule out hair and makeup for the entire bridal party! We've seen this done at a wedding recently we did down in Sacramento and it worked out wonderful! If you're having a professional do hair or makeup or both, chat with them to create a timeline that each girl is getting her hair and makeup done. That way the makeup artist/hair stylist knows who is going next and each girl knows when they are scheduled to go. Here is a great example a coordinator laid out for a recent wedding, we loved this because it kept everything on time and we were off to the first look right on schedule!

5. And if you remember any of these tips, remember this one!!! Enjoy your day, soak everything up! To do this best, have a team of vendors you trust, have bridesmaids who are willing to help, and follow the steps listed above and the one's listed in our Bride's Guide (that we give all our couples when the book us). On the wedding day it's time to stop worrying about your "to-do list" or thinking about the things you didn't have time to do. Just go with the flow and enjoy it! The day goes by fast, so take moments throughout the day to stop, breathe, and soak it all in.
